Il "Cesena Project" has reached its second year of life and on 10 November the i first two specimens in the province of Bergamo. The activity was registered at the "La Passata" ornithological station and confirms the validity of this study, one of a kind throughout the European continent. The project was started in 2016 and takes advantage of the management by theUniversity of Milan and financing by the Federcaccia Lombardy.
The goal is to investigate the migration of the cesene in this region, in the hope of discovering the nesting areas. Last year's results were encouraging and the migration of 4 birds in the spring: from Lombardy these cesene reached Russia and Finland. The capture takes place through traditional coils and ringing stations: in addition to "La Passata", another important area that is monitored is that of Capanelle (Grassobbio).
The 2016 data are easy to say: there were 22 marked Cesene, while for 2017 we aim at 25 subjects in the Bergamo, Bresciano, Lecchese, Pavese and Mantovano areas. Moreover, the trend of a year ago confirmed the observations of many hunters, that is the beginning of the spring migration of the Cesene in February and not after January 6.
