As part of the wildlife control activity, in implementation of the Boar control plan approved by Province of Cuneo in April, according to the regional decree, Confagricoltura also organized a qualification course for the use of capture plants and for selective controls by owners and tenants of agricultural land. The theoretical course will take place in the provincial headquarters of Confagricoltura in Cuneo in the days 8 and 15 January 2020. The local wildlife and environmental police of the Province will then hold a field course (one or more) in the following days.
The course is aimed at holders of authorization for the use of cages for the capture of wild boars who are in the renewal conditions provided for by the new legislation and to the owners or conductors of land who intend to install capture cages or fences for the first time, as well as to the owners or conductors of funds equipped with hunting gun permits who, where the conditions are met, intend to intervene with selective checks on their own land for emergencies. The initiative is part of the training that the Province itself has started in collaboration with Atc, Ca and agricultural associations of Granda. The first theoretical course was organized by Coldiretti last June, those who passed the theoretical course and were in possession of valid firearms license for hunting purposes, they were then able to participate in the field courses organized by the Province, one in Cuneo and one in Alba.
In January 2020 a new Coldiretti course will start and now also the Confagricoltura course which will take place in the same way. The theoretical part will last 6 hours divided into two lessons, followed by the final quiz test. The topics will concern the current legislation, the weapons allowed, the prohibitions, the safety measures and the forms of counter provided by the Plan, the methods of use of the cages and trapping fences, the hygiene-sanitary rules and the destination of the animals. killed, the procedures for requesting and recording interventions, the biology of the species, the biological and reproductive cycle, population dynamics and habitat. The owners or holders of funds who, on a voluntary basis, intend to collaborate in the implementation of the Plan and who have reached the age of majority can participate.
Those who have attended the 6-hour course and having passed the final exam, they will be able to obtain the qualification for the sole use of the capture systems without being able to kill the captured animals.
