The European Parliament, during the plenary session of Tuesday 24 November us, with 292 votes in favor, 362 against and 39 abstentions, rejected the request made by the ECR Group to return European Commission the proposed indiscriminate ban onuse of lead in all the wetlands of Europe and in the areas adjacent to them in order to reformulate it taking into account the observations made by hunters, farmers and sport shooters from all over Europe.
“We take note of this decision with regret - commented the Hon. Sergio Berlato - taken by majority vote by the European Parliament after a similar decision taken by the Commission for the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety. It is now up to the member states of the European Union to implement this decision by the European Commission e implement it on their own national territory.
Too bad that even in Europe those who had to defend the rights of hunters have decided to divide their forces and present two distinct documents, making them both weaker. We hope - commented bitterly the Hon. Sergio Berlato - that sooner or later we understand the need for unite the forces of all bearers and defenders of rural culture if we want to guarantee a dignified future for our activities "(Hon. Sergio Berlato - President of the Association for the Defense and Promotion of Rural Culture and Italian Deputy in the European Parliament).
