The Lazio Regional Administrative Court accepts the appeal presented by environmental associations against a part of the regional hunting calendar.
The Regional Administrative Court with an order issued yesterday 25. November 2011, partially accepted the precautionary request requested by Lav and Lac regarding the content of the Hunting Calendar which, however, even asked for the total suspension of hunting.
Obvious satisfaction from environmentalists including the national president of the Greens, Angelo Bonelli, who comments on the decision of the TAR, "It is good news that the Lazio TAR has accepted the appeal of the associations against a substantial part of the Hunting Calendar, deciding, among other things, to contract the period hunting judged too long ".
Furthermore, Bonelli continues, "In practice, both the provisions of the EU and of Ispra on the matter, which the Lazio Region had ignored, were accepted, including the ban on the use of lead ammunition in wetlands and in hunting ungulates, which in Lazio were still authorized despite their danger also to human health ”.
The president of the Greens continues satisfied on the issue "This is a victory for the ecological and animal rights movement that comes at a significant moment since only yesterday the EU opened an infringement procedure, the second, in the field of hunting, which will lead to an extremely expensive sentence for the state coffers, at a time of serious economic and social crisis. Note how the President Polverini, despite a full-blown conviction, had nevertheless decided to launch a Hunting Calendar which it was known would be subsequently rejected by the Regional Administrative Court ".
It should be noted, however, that the Lazio Regional Administrative Court has only partially accepted the precautionary request and that with its order does not order the interruption of the hunting activity but only anticipates the closing dates for woodcock, aquatic and tordid species and also limits the use of toxic ammunition containing lead.
For the rest the hunting activity continues according to the provisions of the current hunting calendar therefore the hunters of Lazio will normally be able to continue the hunting activity.
The Regional Councilor for Agricultural Policies, Angela Birindelli, commented on the issue as follows, “As last year there is an instrumental and politicized use of the TAR order on the Lazio Region hunting calendar. The general layout of the calendar remained unchanged and only a residual part of the text was challenged on which we are already making the necessary investigations ".
