Hunting: Tuscany, the regional council approves the proposed resolution on wild boar hunting and the selection of ungulates.
The regional council yesterday approved the proposed resolution, which will be sent to the regional council for ratification, concerning wild boar hunts and the selection of ungulates. For the Boar, it is explained in a note, the resolution provides for the possibility of making hunts, throughout the regional territory suited for this type of hunting, in the period between 1 October and 31 December 2013 or between 1 November 2013 and 31 January 2014. The provinces will define the suitable areas, hunting periods and days. As for the ungulates - roe deer, red deer, fallow deer and mouflons - the selection hunters are given the opportunity to use five days a week to complete the culling plans. From this year, on specific abatement plans prepared by the Provinces, in line with what is indicated by the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research of the Ministry of the Environment, selection hunting will be possible starting from 1 June for some specific species and age classes.
"This resolution - comments the councilor for agriculture, hunting and fishing, Gianni Salvadori - reaffirms the will of the Tuscany Region to give concrete answers to the serious problem of damage caused by the populations of ungulates to the valuable agriculture of our territory while respecting both the terms of the law in force at EU, national, regional level and both the technical and scientific opinions of the bodies in charge ".
