Hunting notwithstanding the transfer authorized in 82 Tuscan municipalities to prevent damage to valuable agricultural crops.
There are 82 Tuscan municipalities in which, for the 2012-2013 hunting season, it will be possible to hunt the starling, compared to 66 last year. The mobility of hunters in the Atc (territorial hunting areas) of the region has also been confirmed for the season that is about to open. This was decided by the council which today approved two resolutions on the proposal of the councilor for agriculture and hunting Gianni Salvadori.
Withdrawal in derogation "The resolution authorizing the" withdrawal in derogation "to the transfer - explains the commissioner Salvadori - is a response to the difficulties of the territories that have reported damage to valuable agricultural crops. It is a problem that is becoming increasingly serious and that is why we are convinced that the best way would be to reinsert the starling among the huntable species. "
“The prevention interventions implemented by the Provinces - continues Salvadori - were not sufficient to contain the losses of fruit, vegetables, grapes and olives made by these birds. In fact, this year too, unfortunately, we had to see an increase in attacks on crops of greater value, such as vines, fruit, sunflowers, cereals. Faced with this situation, the Region has decided to intervene. It did so after having received both the alarm of agricultural professional organizations and the favorable opinions of national scientific institutes and the European Commission itself, adopting a provision that authorizes hunters to defend the crops in place, perfectly in line with the regulations in force and with the approval of the European Commission itself ".
The abatement in derogation of the transfers will be possible only in the municipalities where it was authorized. Here's where:
Province of Arezzo: Castel San Niccolò, Castiglion Fiorentino, Civitella Valdichiana, Pieve Santo Stefano;
Province of Florence: Bagno a Ripoli, Campi Bisenzio, Castelfiorentino, Cerreto Guidi, Dicomano, Empoli, Fiesole, Figline Valdarno, Fucecchio, Impruneta, Incisa Valdarno, Pelago, Rignano sull'Arno, San Casciano Val di Pesa and Vinci;
Province of Lucca: Altopascio, Camaiore, Capannori, Lucca, Massarosa, Montecarlo, Pescaglia, Pietrasanta and Porcari;

The withdrawal in derogation of the transfer can take place in pre-opening, if approved, and in the period from 16 September to 16 December, from stalking and near olive groves, vineyards and orchards with pending fruit.
“I want to remind you - underlines the commissioner - that in the matter of exceptions we are always waiting for the Dpr on the guidelines, which the government had undertaken to issue over two years ago. In this situation, the Regions find themselves having to face often insurmountable difficulties, while the request made by the government to the European Union to include the starling among the huntable species will inevitably have very long response times. "
Mobility Today's council also approved the provision that defines the methods of access for Tuscan hunters to hunting areas other than that of residence. In particular, it is specified that hunters resident in Tuscany can purchase a 5-day package, to be used in an ATC other than the one in which they reside, at a cost of 26 euros. Reservations are required to take advantage of the days purchased. The methods are illustrated on the Region's website, in the pages dedicated to hunting and fishing.
Non-resident hunters who want to hunt in Tuscany will have to prove that they have paid the sum of 25 euros and that they have booked the hunting day.
