Hunting in Veneto: the Region chooses five days a week for migratory hunting and responds to the TAR on the question.
Yesterday, 25 September 2012, the Regional Council of Veneto approved the resolution which remedies the suspension of the Hunting Calendar by the TAR following the appeal of the environmentalists in the part concerning the days for hunting migratory.
In particular, following the appeal of the environmentalists, the Regional Administrative Court had suspended the 2012-2013 Regional Hunting Calendar in the part in which it envisaged two additional days, from 3 to 5, of hunting for migratory fauna in the months of October and November.
With the resolution approved yesterday by the Regional Council on the proposal of the councilor Daniele Stival, the collection of migratory fauna that can be hunted in the Veneto area can be carried out in a stalking mode in the months of October and November on 5 days a week; the document replaces and integrates the part of the Hunting Calendar object of the appeal to the TAR with ten paragraphs containing the reasons in support of the provisions regarding additional hunting days.
Commenting on the new resolution which aims to provide a response to the suspension order of the Tar, Councilor Stival commented, "We have given exhaustive answers, the game bag remains the same: not even one more item will be killed".
Continuing on the issue, the commissioner explained, “The suspension of the TAR was essentially based on a lack of reasons for not taking into account the contrary opinion expressed by ISPRA. With this resolution we respond extensively on the issue, providing all the necessary specifications ".
Finally, concluding, the commissioner Stival specified that “ISPRA itself in giving its negative opinion to the two additional days, admits that it does not have scientific data to substantiate its denial, and it does not seem like a trivial matter. Nor is it irrelevant that the maximum allowed game bag remains absolutely unchanged. This means that the additional days do not involve the killing of even one more head than if you hunted for only three days. If the game bag is ten, ten must remain, regardless of whether the hunter carries out his activity for three, four or five days ”.
