The provincial section of Lecce of the Italian Hunting Federation wanted to publicly express its congratulations on the election of new president of the Province. To lead the Lecce, in fact, will be Stefano Minerva, former mayor of Gallipoli and known hunter. The appointment was made official by a large majority.
The number one of the hunting association, John Ciccarese, has made public a short note to make known their thoughts on the matter. Here is what he wrote: "The best wishes of us citizens of Salento go to him as we await a turning point with respect to the inertia of the past. To this I add the joy of the hunting world that sees its worthy representative at the top of the Salento government. Greetings President Greetings Hunter". Minerva is 32 years old and was mayor of Gallipoli since 2016.
During these elections he was supported by a center-left coalition and beat Gianni Marra, mayor of Squinzano. It was the second grade vote, the one reserved for the only ones mayors and municipal councilors. The preferences went clearly to the new president who won 58,5% of the total votes. The center-right's defeat was deemed unexpected by many experts, albeit favored by a series of internal divisions that were not supportive of the candidate.
