Almost three years later, the fallow deer management plan in Circeo Park è officially operational. The decision was taken at the end of a session of the board of directors of 23 January of the 2017 and now it is about to materialize. The species is causing damage to the ecosystem and to the safety of people with its proliferation: it was therefore chosen to allocate 170mila euros for the operation that has as its full name that of "Management plan for the control of fallow deer in the state forest".
The leaders to be killed will be at least 350, in order to reduce the overall population by thirty percentage points every year for the next three years. The Park has come to calculate an average weight of 40 kilos per garment and a total of 14 thousand kilos of fresh meat to be placed on the market.
The overall estimate (to 2015), therefore, within the Circeo National Park is equal to 1268 fallow deer, for a total average density of 0,42 head / hectare. In 2017 he voted against the measure only Piero Vigorelli, mayor of Ponza who today has increased the dose, even speaking of "slaughter" and "assisted homicide".
