Wild rabbit hunting has been suspended throughout Sicily: the Tar Palermo decided yesterday. This was announced by Legambiente which he presented together with Lipu and WWF, an appeal against the decree of 28 September of the Regional Councilor for Agriculture Edy Bandiera "with which he reopened the hunt despite a first suspension of the same Tar on hunting calendar".
"It was a decree-fraud, a very serious violation of the TAR order, a scandalous lack of institutional respect for the judiciary - they commented Legambiente, Lipu and WWF -: now it is no longer a question of hunting, but of respect for legality. This decree, with a risky and stubborn exploitation of the administrative powers, made an act of pure poaching legal for a month: the killing of up to 15 specimens of rabbit for each Sicilian hunter, or 382.935 animals. Evidently for theCouncilor Flag it is a priority to protect extremist hunting associations and all their wishes, even those illegal and contrary to the decisions of the judicial bodies "(Giornale di Sicilia).
