The members ofAtc Lower Bergamo Plain they filled the auditorium hall of the Antico Borgo La Muratella in Cologno al Serio, seat in the last three years of the meeting of the only Bergamo hunting area. On stage were present the President of the ATC Augusto Malenchini, representative of Federcaccia, the secretary Umberto Mazzoleni together with the statutory auditor Giuseppe Arena. In the stalls the hunting associations were well represented, starting from new President of Federcaccia Bergamo Michele Bornaghi, the regional one of the CPA Fortunato Busana, that of the Provincial Free Hunt Mario Scotti, in addition to the candidate in the European elections Pietro Fiocchi and the representative of the councilor Barbara Mazzali, Dr. Rossana Interlandi, whose speech was the most applauded and Fabio Ghisleni of "Hounds and Hounds".
The members of the ATC have now reached 2.730, up from 3 thousand last year: the President asked respect for all game by hunters engaged in all types of hunting and could not but reflect on the fact that the decrease in members could lead to a decrease in the species introduced. In December 2018, 600 hares were released, again in the last year, 19 thousand pheasants and partridges were introduced, while the hares observed are in excellent condition. Malenchini remarked that the lack of hares and above all of the famous postcards is not a problem for the ATC as it is not an epidemic.
The control on the culled hares saw the delivery to the veterinary center prepared of only 11 tubes for the health check on more than 100 delivered to hunters and from which no serious pathologies have been identified. The reports of the race reports, especially the first two of 2019 by Libera Caccia and Federcaccia, record an increase in the same hares in restocking and capture areas. A hot topic that closely affects all hunters was that concerning the presence of pests in the territory of the Bergamo and Lombardy plains, such as foxes, nutria, but also corvids and pigeons: our President Michele Bornaghi took the floor on this issue. “As a member and as President, thanks to what the management committee and our volunteers do for the Bergamo Plain - are the words of the number one of Fidc Bergamo-.
The pests problem is national, an amendment to law 157 of 1992 is required in order to allow hunters to intervene. Federcaccia Nazionale is taking action and I would like to come back next year to see you with some news, also as regards the hares. We need to be united on an associative level, not only among us, but also with the realities complementary to us, such as those of farmers or fishermen such as Fipsas. It is time to react compactly as they did in France, hunting is a right of every citizen, a heritage that we are all called to defend and pass on: we must be proud of what we represent in society and proudly explain our role in the social fabric ”.
