Brawl over a pheasant and a cultivated field, 70-year-old farmer attacked and injured
BREDA DI PIAVE (TV) - Another unpleasant episode in this black autumn for hunting in Veneto. Sunday morning, around 8 am, a group of 3 hunters was in the Pero area in Breda di Piave. One of the 3 killed a pheasant and to collect it entered a field planted with red radicchio (which should be harvested in these days) owned by Mr. Mario Zabotto, 70 years old.
When Zabotto pointed out to the three that they were trampling the cultivated field and that hunting is forbidden in the vicinity of the cultivated fields, the three do not admit the wrong and pretend to enter the field at all costs to recover the hunting booty. Tempers light up and the group puts their hands on the elderly owner. At the end of the fight, Mario Zabotto ends up on the ground, the three leave him there, retrieve the pheasant and leave. Zabotto waits for someone to come to help him and then is taken to the emergency room where he is found to have a broken leg fracture.The fact was made known to the press this morning when Zabotto formalized the complaint against the three hunters on whose tracks the Carabinieri of Maserada Di Piave. They are accused of personal injury, failure to help, assault, as well as the crime of hunting in a prohibited area.
