The Italian Delegation of CIC developed and presented a Practical Guide in English at the Budapest Headquarters, authors N. Amosso and E. Berzieri; to be added to the CIC Manual for the measurement and evaluation of Hunting Trophies. With great satisfaction, we can now inform you that, in the International Trophy Evaluation Board of the CIC held on ZOOM, 18-19 May 2021, our Practical Guide also sponsored by the CIC Headquarters was approved by the Senior International Trophy Judge's present and adopted as a text to accompany the "CIC Handbook for the Evaluation and Measurement of Hunting Trophies".
It is not a separate trophy text but an integrative manual that explores some crucial themes and cases of particular interest with photographs, examples, suggestions. In line with this approach, they have been deepened some sections of the Handbook completely neglecting others, in the opinion of the authors already complete. As it is not possible to deal with the matter in an exhaustive way, given its complexity, the content of this Guide, updated to the decisions taken in the last Trophy Evaluation Board , is subject to revisions, also depending on the decisions that will be taken in future meetings of the Board and on the experiences that will be gained in the field during the international evaluation commissions.
In order for the work to be shared as much as possible, it was considered appropriate and necessary a comparison with the Senior International Trophy Judge's Fritz Hansen (DK) and Szecko Zerjav (SLO) respectively with regard to the chapters Red Deer, Roe Deer, European Fallow Deer, Wild Boar and the Chamois, European Mouflon and Alpine Ibex chapters. Tony Dalby-Welsh, Co-Chairman of the CIC International Trophy Evaluation Board, edited the general revision of the Guide and submitted it to the Board for approval.
We were particularly pleased that Michel Nolens, past president of ICET (International Commission Exhibitions & Trophies), not present on the Board, expressed his approval of our initiative in writing, with the hope that it will be used by the CIC. It is the first time that the CIC has adopted a text that does not arise from its own initiative: this will give prestige and visibility, as well as to the Italian delegation, to the whole Italian movement. At the end of theauthorization process at various levels, which will last approximately 4-5 months, will be printed in Italian and English.
