After the stop imposed bycoronavirus emergency, the possibility of practicing wild boar selection hunting has reopened in the period included between May 16, 2020 and March 15, 2021, as established by the regional council. Coldiretti asks that all the Territorial Areas of Hunting (ATC) and the Alpine Areas (CA) proceed rapidly with the development of selective withdrawal plans to be presented to the Region. It is necessary to urgently reverse the trend that in our Province - he points out Coldiretti Cuneo - sees the amount of damage to agriculture caused by wildlife at an altitude of 700.000 euros per year. 63% of these is attributable to wild boars, which are also responsible for 200 road accidents declared on average every year by the Cuneo inhabitants.
"The green light for selection hunting is an absolutely necessary measure - comments the confederal delegate of Coldiretti Cuneo Roberto Moncalvo - after in recent weeks, with the territories even less manned, we have witnessed the proliferation of wild boars and wildlife in our countryside up to even at the gates of cities and on main roads, with serious risks for the safety of citizens, those who transported food and medical aid ".
"We now expect - adds Moncalvo - that ATC and CA, especially in areas where there is greater damage to agricultural production, responsibly take action urgently and submit the proposals for a selective collection plan in order to contain the damage in our territory. In addition to the safety of people, the crops of the countryside are at stake, which, even more in this phase, they represent a source of essential food supply together with the fruit of the work of our entrepreneurs who, despite the difficulties, never stopped and continued to produce food ”.
