“We urge Atc and Ca to adhere not only formally to the wild boar selection hunting, approved by the Department of Agriculture, Hunting and Fishing of the Piedmont region. The boar selection hunt began on 8 April 2019 and will end on 15 March 2020 ″. This is the appeal of Fabrizio Galliati, President of Coldiretti Turin. “Coldiretti asks the Atc and the Ca to use this tool.
In past years, not all Atc and Ca have resorted to selection hunting e not everyone who planned it they then fully realized it. Given the many problems caused by wild boars to agriculture, it is unacceptable that this tool is not used to stem and contain them. For the first time, in all of Piedmont, the start of the selection hunt is anticipated and kept the opening of the hunt until spring 2020, without interruption. The Regional Council has approved the first list of selective collection plans for the species, for the hunting season 2019-2010, presented by hunting management institutes.
So far, however, in the entire territory of the Metropolitan City of Turin, only 5 out of 10 Atc and CA have planned interventions, for a total of 1310 wild boars to be killed. Another novelty introduced is the priority collection of females and young of the species, in critical areas with a strong presence of wild boar. The hunting management institutes are called to integrate the plans by 30 April 2019. The Department of Agriculture of the Piedmont Region has acknowledged our requests and thus offers a useful tool to combat wild boars. Coldiretti Torino has no doubts: it is about an opportunity that must absolutely be seized".
