CONARM ME, the Consorzio Armaioli Italiani, is very active in this period with a series of really interesting courses. One of these, scheduled for February 25-26 and March 25-26, is a manual course intended for all fans of ancient and historical weapons, ex ordinance (both long and short) and sidearms. The lessons are designed to deepen and understand what are the techniques of restoration, maintenance and small repairs.
CONARMI recalled what are the main differences between these weapons. The ancient ones were produced until 31 December of the 1890, while the historical ones are more than 50 years old and less than 126, so they were produced between 1 January 1891 and 31 December 1964. Then there are the weapons ex ordinance, that is, used by an army during the first and second world wars. Furthermore, sidearms are all pointed and edged weapons (daggers, bayonets and sabers). The venue of the course will be the usual one, that is Gardone Val Trompia, in the province of Brescia.
Lessons will start at 8:30, continuing until 12:30: after a break, they will continue on schedule 14-18. Participants can be a maximum of 16, while for registrations there will be time until 22 February. The program will include weapons inspection, the assessment of the state of conservation, ordinary maintenance (cleaning and lubrication), extraordinary maintenance (disassembly and criticality), cleaning of wooden and metal parts, in addition to recovery of dents and the reassembly of parts.
