When it comes to skeet shooting and hunting, the first thought goes to weapons and ammunition, but an equally fundamental factor is represented by sight, if we do not see each other well it becomes difficult to hit the target, be it a clay pigeon or a pheasant. Personally, since glasses, as a form of protection, are now mandatory in practically all shooting disciplines, I found myself having difficulty focusing, especially at the moment of departure, of the pull ..., I attributed this difficulty to the lenses I used, but ... nothing more wrong.
Having heard about DE.LA.RO., on the advice of my friend and Skeet champion, Riccardo Filippelli, I went to Urgnano by Toni De Maria, who after a thorough optometric examination, which lasted about 45 minutes, found me a hyperopia of the left eye and that I would have needed glasses with corrective lenses and here I discovered a world, the DE.LA.RO system.
Toni tells me how her adventure started, about three years ago Ivan Rossi and Silvia Lamera, daughter of Renato, owner of TAV Cieli Aperti, which is located about a kilometer away from the DE.LA.RO headquarters, entered his shop. ., asking them to reproduce the lenses of their shooting glasses. Having noticed the type of lenses and the activity for which they were intended, he made some reasoning and without saying anything, not only did he redo the lenses but made them anti-reflective, immediately arousing the enthusiasm of the two shooters who immediately found the best. quality, from this after several steep he arrived at the latest version of lenses that subjected to a particular vacuum treatment, the anti-reflective effect is optimized as well as making them particularly robust.
The next step was to move on to the mount, here too several steps were necessary up to the current fourth series, made of a particular very flexible steel, characterized by an adjustable nose piece and held in position by a set screw on the bridge, available in four different rod length sizes, weighing just 14 grams. The frame and the nosepiece thus created become practically invisible without disturbing the shooter's field of vision. At this point the need to make corrective lenses also took over, and here the professionalism of the optician came out, Toni immediately realized that the shooter at the time of the shot keeps his head in a particular and always different position between a person. and the other, therefore measuring the focal center in the classical way, with the optical ruler, could not give optimal results. Hence the idea of developing a specific software was born.
To do this, after turning off the main lights, project a trap field on the wall of 24 m2 of his studio and asks me to assemble my speargun, installs a small camera oriented on the rib in order to capture the position of my eyes and makes me simulate shooting at some right and left targets. With this system, coupled with software that took over a year of development, testing and modification, he and his assistant Lisa are able to assess the exact posture of the face and eyes at the time by verifying the photographs taken from the camera. of the shot. This allows the creation of ad hoc lenses for the individual shooter, with the focal point off-center but aligned with the eye and the line of sight.
The DE.LA.RO. allows the creation of lenses, white or colored, graduated and customized, all other shooting glasses require the use of graduated lenses positioned inside the mask, which forces the light to pass through two lenses, the colored one and the corrective one, each lens it deviates the angle of incidence of light, therefore with two lenses the deviation doubles, losing clarity. What is more, generally speaking, these are wraparound glasses which by their nature increase lateral distortions.
All explained by a very friendly and competent man but above all who emanates a great passion for his work, and he is keen to point out that the project started from the optician, therefore from a scientific perspective derived from a deep knowledge of the "lens" "In all its facets and peculiarities and from what are the possible problems of the human eye. The contribution of shooters who develop and test the validity of the product in the field before marketing is also fundamental for the development of eyewear.
The professionalism of Toni De Maria has brought him great success all over the world, in his team we note many of the most important names in Italian and international shooting, among these in addition to Riccardo Filippelli we find, Johnny Pellielo, Massimo Fabrizi, Valerio Grazini, Giovanni Cernogoraz, David Kostelecky, Zuzana Stefecekova, Alberto Fernandez, Resca Daniele, Tuzun Oguzhan and many others. Toni is keen to repeat to me that research never ends and he is engaging in new studies to improve his eyewear better and better, and who better than the aforementioned samples can give him the right feedback!
A last curiosity, the name, very simple are the initials of De Maria, Lamera and Rossi! DE.LA.RO.
