WWF, LIPU, ENPA, PAN-EPPAA, Legambiente, LAV and LAC in recent days they have presented an appeal to the Trentino Regional Administrative Court to contest the recent abolition of the wildlife committee. The reasons given by animal welfare and environmental associations are basically four. First of all, having disciplined the environmental and it was considered an unconstitutional act and which is not of primary provincial competence. The second reason has to do with the elimination of an organ taking a cue from the reduction in spending.
According to the associations themselves, it would be a saving of less than 1500 euros per year, too little to justify the abolition of the committee. The third reason is that of the power that belongs to the provincial council which is only modifying or suppressive and not institutive. Furthermore, there is the fourth reason for the appeal, namely the exclusion of environmentalist interventions for the drafting of the hunting calendar which would even be in contrast with the norms of international law.
Julia Zanotelli, Councilor for Hunting of the Province of Trento, commented on the provision as follows: "Environmental associations have every right to appeal against the decision, but as a Province we confirm the correctness and validity of the decision. With regard to the involvement of environmentalism, the law provides for the hunting table and that of Casteller which contemplates their contribution ”.
