Federcaccia Brescia on the capture operations for the subsequent restocking of the hares; 2013 begins with a small but important sign of optimism for Brescia hunters.
On the territory of the ATC Unico, the capture of hares in the ZRC and in the red zones is taking place and then freeing them either in free territory or in other protected establishments in order to recreate native hare strains and then be able to capture them in the future. The achievement of self-sufficiency in restocking is not only an essential management objective, but it is also a very specific dictate of the regional law 26/93. Well, last year in the ZRC of Quinzano only 21 hares were captured in two days, a real failure, announced by some and by others perhaps even, if we don't want to, pursued.
There followed endless controversies at that capture, but the protagonists of the story, all of them, had the merit of not losing their temper and instead chose to roll up their sleeves. First of all, the fishing-hunting surveillance body of the provincial police, which intensified controls and carried out important measures to contain harmful fauna with the men of the working group.
Secondly, the management committee of the ATC Unico chaired by Italo Lussignoli, a Federcaccia man of great experience but above all of great patience. He restored confidence to the working group, he tried to understand the reasons but above all, supported by all the members of the Management Committee, he insisted on pursuing the goal. Finally, left for last only to dedicate more space to him, the Quinzano hunters working group coordinated by Giancarlo Mantovani. A strong, serious partnership which over the years had achieved good results but which had recently gotten a bit lost along the way, partly upsetting the task that had been entrusted to it.
Well these men after that disastrous capture have suffered criticism, even heavy from some, but they have been able to react. They have treasured the suggestions, they have become humble, and you believe it is not easy, and listening to external opinions also they have worked for a whole year. Yes, worked, because this is the only way to have results and the results have arrived: on 29, 30 and 31 December 107 hares were caught!
This goal has given everyone confidence and has shown that when you team up between the ATC, the Provincial Police and men on the territory, even in Brescia, the management results are within our reach. The relationship with farmers is fundamental: in three days of catches, in which a total of 750 people took part, it happened to cross farms and meet residents but we were always greeted with a smile or encouraging phrases. Quinzano was the first good news of 2013, it is up to us hunters to make it the first of a long series.
