The celebrations of November 3rd
The Federcaccia Section of Trieste, in collaboration with the Drustvo slovenskih lovce “Doberdob” (Association that unites hunters of the Slovenian language and culture) and the UNCZA (National Union of Hunters in the Alps) honored their patron saint, Sant'Uberto.
The participation of hunters was very large, all dressed in traditional dress and the falconers of the National Union of Hunters Falconers found great sympathy with their falcons firmly secured to their master's arm. The President of the City Council of Trieste Cav. attended the celebration. Francesco di Paola Panteca, Councilor Babuder together with councilors Porro and Vatta, the Mayor of the Municipality of Monrupino Tanja Kosmina and representing the Municipality of San Dorligo della Valle was Councilor Antonio Ghersinich. Also present was a delegation from the Hunters Association of Slovenia and theAgjso (Working community of hunting organizations in the south-eastern Alpine area) to which the hunting associations of Austria, Slovenia and Italy belong).
The Provincial Federcaccia Board was present in full with the Provincial President Fabio Merlini together with the Vice Presidents and Councillors.
Sense of unity
The Environmental Hunting Guards of the Federcaccia were present together with the National Association of Penitentiary Police. The parish priest Don Samuele Cecotti, focused on the sense of responsibility that hunters have towards nature and its sources of life, encouraging at the same time fraternal behavior and noble thoughts of helping each other within the community in which they live. Precisely to make clear the sense of unity among all the hunters, the Mass was formulated in trilingual (Italian, Slovenian and German for the readings) and was animated by the music of the horn players group of the Serenade Ensemble musical association of Muggia and by the Drustvo slovenskih lovce Choir “Doberdob”.
Deer trophy
In front of the altar, as per centuries-old tradition, a composition was created with a large deer trophy, placed on a mantle of fir branches, to commemorate the apparition that the young and noble Uberto had in the Ardennes forest in a Good Friday 3th century. As an item of news, it should be noted that the anniversary of Saint Hubert is remembered by the Catholic Church on November XNUMXrd, but in the diocese of Trieste on that day all liturgical attention can only be dedicated to Saint Justus and even the hunters adapt to this by moving the memory of Saint Hubert at another date (source: Federcaccia).
