The boar hunting teams of the Liguria they will be able to continue their activity for the whole of next January. This activity takes place in the periods foreseen by the hunting calendar (for the 2020/21 season, from 4 October to 3 January) and up to the slaughter of a predetermined number of animals: this is the annual quota, foreseen for this season in 23.240 total heads. "In case of non-completion of the quota foreseen for the current season - explains the vice president and councilor for hunting Alexander Piana - the regional law provides that the hunting of the wild boar carried out by the teams can continue in the month of January, until the maximum number of killing possible is reached.
The data on the killing carried out, constantly monitored by the regional offices, show at the end of December a situation that has been greatly reduced compared to previous seasons, with a percentage of wild boars killed, at a regional level, just over 43% of the total ”. “The cause is clearly attributable to the days lost by the hunting teams as a result of measures introduced to counter the spread of the pandemic from Covid-19, in particular with regard to travel restrictions ”, adds Piana.
“The continuation of the activity of the boar hunting teams, as required by regional regulations, will allow for a more effective containment of the number of these ungulates - concludes Piana - It is the species of our fauna that creates the greatest criticalities for agriculture and for the safety of road traffic ”, concludes the commissioner.
