Research on the health conditions of wildlife promoted by the Province
The health conditions of wild animals present on the provincial territory are substantially good. This was revealed by the 2009/2010 monitoring promoted and financed by the Province and carried out by the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of the Venezie.
The survey was based on the analysis of 87 animal samples, including 54 roe deer, 15 hares, 10 chamois, 3 wild boars and other animals. The specimens were collected in 26 municipalities of the province thanks to the collaboration of hunters, who recovered the animals found already dead and sent the findings to the Institute for analysis.
"The precious collaboration of hunters - explains the provincial councilor for hunting and fishing, Stefano Zannier - was particularly important in 2010, and it will be so also in 2011, both for the census of animals and in relation to the serious epidemic of sylvan rabies which involves the entire region and is undergoing vaccination and constant monitoring. For its part, the Province - concludes Zannier - will also guarantee the resources for the future to keep the health of wildlife under control ".
