Milan, 21 March – “That of the Council of State is a historic sentence, n. 982 of 2024, which demonstrates the total and serious non-compliance of ISPRA on hunting issues which has been ongoing for at least ten years, for example on hunting calendars but also on the identification of 'small quantities' to be activated for hunting exemptions, a specific subject of the sentence. Unacceptable non-compliance, motivated by ISPRA in the lack of tools to calculate the 'small quantities' of huntable game.
“The sentence stigmatizes a historical short circuit identified in the chronicity of ISPRA's action strategy which ideally always runs on the same track guided by a univocal and constant orientation, often hindering and with a paralyzing effect with respect to the exercise of the prerogatives and decision-making obligations placed in head of the Regions.”
“In confirming the incorrectness of ISPRA's action, the final sentence obliges the Institute to provide the data to the Regions. I drafted with colleagues Bravo and Macconi a letter addressed to the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto Fratin and to the Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida to report this anomaly in the system of carrying out ISPRA's institutional tasks and to re-establish decision-making competence at the hands of the Regions. We therefore ask for a timely intervention from the Ministers towards the leaders of the Institute so that they can restore it to being a scientific and non-ideological body in hunting matters".
“In this document signed by 42 regional councilors (the absolute majority), including the majority group leaders, I promote towards the Government an interregional meeting on the issue, so that ISPRA can return to acting as the scientific body it is responsible for without ideologies against hunting, which have so far illegitimately prevented hunters from carrying out their activities".
“Finally, I thank my fellow Councilors Carlo Bravo, vice-president of the 'Agriculture, mountains and forests' Commission, Pietro Macconi, Claudia Carzeri and all the Councilors who signed and supported this initiative”.
He states it Floriano Massardi Regional councilor of the League President of the 'Agriculture, mountains and forests' Commission of the Lombardy Region regarding the ruling of the Council of State which agrees with the Liguria Region on hunting issues.
