In Savignano sul Rubicone a hunter throws himself into an artificial lake to save his dog but is trapped in the freezing water and dies.
This is how he died, together with his faithful friend, Luciano Vasini, a 63-year-old hunter from Bellaria who fell yesterday afternoon in the waters of a small lake in the municipality of Savignano sul Rubicone.
The alarm to the Cesena firefighters came at 20.33 pm, when the wife called the station, not seeing her husband return. The firefighters thus drove to the area of Via Melozzo da Forlì, where his car was found.
The carabinieri of Cesenatico and Savignano, the municipal police, and the civil protection divers of Bellaria also arrived with them to track him down. It was the latter who found the man's body, after just under 3 hours of research.
They were the first to find the man's dog lifeless, on the surface of the water. Then, they recovered the lifeless body of the 63-year-old. Inside the jacket, the hunter had his identity documents, and thanks to these he was identified.
In reality, the man was already in that pond since the afternoon. When, on his return from hunting, he had called in vain to his faithful hunting companion. At one point he heard the yelps of the animal that ended up in an artificial lake about 2 meters deep, with the side slippery due to the nylon positioned around it.
So the hunter approached, but a moment of distraction made him slide into the water. Man's vain attempts to get back up due to the slippery nylon lining the banks. Both he and his dog didn't make it.
