For some time now, hunters and non-hunters, had been the victims of damage to their cars near the San Gregorio Reserve in Assisi; it was now 100% safe to have punctured tires with spikes or even the brakes tampered with. Numerous complaints were presented to the Assisi Commissariat and after a long investigation the author was finally discovered.
By now it had become impossible to pass or park near the San Gregorio reserve without finding the tires of your car punctured or cut and on some occasions even the brakes tampered with. On the occasion of the episodes of damage, huge carpenter-type nails were found at least 10 cm long, specially welded together to form a "Cross" or "L" and capable of pointing at least one point upwards. once thrown to the ground. On some occasions, even wooden tablets had been found, with nails driven in and the points facing each other, positioned so as to remain hidden from the view of unsuspecting motorists passing through the dirt roads of the naturalistic area.
For a long time, the men of the Assisi Police Commissioner investigated the affair based on the numerous complaints presented along all possible paths and finally at the first light of dawn last Thursday 21 August the circle closed around the figure of a man, a hunter from Assisi.
The police officers showed up at the character's house with the excuse of a normal administrative check on the shotguns and hunting ammunition held by the same and duly reported; During the check, some irregularities were found including the lack of one of the weapons reported and the possession of a number of ammunition much higher than that allowed but above all, strange nails in the shape of " L ”and“ cross ”very similar, if not identical, to those found in the San Gregorio area on the occasion of damage to cars.
Regarding the possession of the nails, the man explained that he had collected them right in the San Gregorio area and that he himself had been a victim of the damage but had never filed a complaint; the agents did not give much credit to the subject's explanations and in fact, during the inspection, a large quantity of the same nails specially "treated" and welded together were found.
Considering the elements in question, the character was denounced on the loose to answer for the crime of continued aggravated damage, in relation to the various episodes already reported as well as denounced for the violation of the legislation on the possession of hunting weapons and ammunition; in addition, all the weapons and ammunition found in the man's possession were subjected to precautionary seizure pending the possible revocation of the firearms license.
The man has never provided explanations but according to the investigators the motive could be linked to the desire to drive away other hunters or visitors to the naturalistic area, spreading over time a real psychosis linked to the area, thus eliminating competition both in the area. hunting activity that in the other activities almost to create a personal reserve.
