Hunting and Ammunition: Norway takes a step back and reintroduces the use of lead shot for hunting if practiced outside the wetlands.
Norway's decision came on February 3, when Parliament with 79 votes in favor and 16 against reintroduced the use of lead shot for hunting outside wetlands. The ban was launched in 2005 provoking the reaction of the Norwegian hunting associations that have worked hard in recent years to denounce the lack of tangible evidence in favor of such a limitation and the risk of the use of alternative ammunition for animals and humans. The Norwegian hunting world and Norway's Weapons Council have tried to clarify how lead represents the most suitable material for hunting ammunition and the need for further studies and insights into the so-called alternative materials was evident. The Norwegian government will therefore insert the decision taken by Parliament into a regulation to be issued soon, thus giving its hunters the possibility of returning to using lead-based ammunition outside the wetlands.
The CNCN applauds the choice of the Norwegian Parliament which has adhered to scientific facts and studies and hopes that this example of civilization and science will also be followed in Italy.
