Hunting and Migration: a new update on the migratory step provided by ANUU according to FEIN ornithological observations, “Robins protagonists, exciting migration”.
It really is a migration thrilling. When it was thought that this year the Robins could be absent in this post-nuptial migration, here they appear in exceptional numbers as happened on Saturday 25 October at the FEIN Ornithological Observatory in Arosio, where as many as 85 specimens were ringed, thus arriving at a high number of seasonal presences as happened for the Blackcap.
The presence of the Song Thrush it proved to be excellent especially in northern Italy and, while in the center it was above the norm, in the south it appeared only in some areas. In Greece it was really considerable, especially on the days of 19, 20 and 21 October. THE Sasselli Thrushes it seems that they have started off well with a good number of subjects also sighted in central Italy.
Good pace also of the Tordela accompanied by the sweepers, while there is still an excellent number of passing Frosoni and Fringuelli and of Siskin and Peppole which occasionally are reported in small groups up to the plain. The presence of the wood pigeon spotted in large groups migrating in central and northern Italy is excellent. News arrives of the very first Cesene observed in the low hills, as well as of the Woodcocks in the plains.
Among the aquatic the teal is the most abundant duck, while i Snipe they constantly remain in good numbers in the areas that are congenial to them. The pace in general in this second decade of October saw intense days alternating with miserable days, especially when Aeolus, king of the winds, dominated by blowing over 145 km / h in some areas, making you enjoy a clear sky like never before. . To conclude, an October to remember with a migration that, hopefully, will continue in the coming months with the help of meteorology.
