HUNT: From the stage of the Vicenza Fair where the Hunting Show is underway, the former AN parliamentarian rekindles the clash in the center-right. The honorable PDL: "The mother of fools is always pregnant in all parties." The undersecretary: "He offends because he has fruit."
Vicenza, 20.02.2011 - MEP Sergio Berlato "fires" against Minister Michela Brambilla and Undersecretary Francesca Martini and the internal political storm in the center-right is unleashed. Yesterday morning, on the opening day of the Hunting Show, the international hunting and fishing exhibition that will end tomorrow at the Fair, the pidiellino Berlato targeted the two representatives of the pro-animalist friendly government, combining them with the unflattering concept of "stupidity".
«Those who dispute hunting the less they know it - commented Berlato after the presentation of the survey on the relationship between Italians and hunting -. It is therefore necessary to inform public opinion so that they can choose which side to take sides ”.
After the premise, the MEP sank the blow with a very hard attack against the Minister of Tourism Michela Brambilla, from his own party, and the Undersecretary Francesca Martini of the Northern League, allied to the Government: "But then - added the ex An - there are Brambilla and Martini: the mother of fools is always pregnant in all parties, ”Berlato said in front of the representatives of the hunters' associations.
Informed of the incident, the Honorable Francesca Martini does not send them to say: «I do not understand this mania of persecution of Berlato - says Martini -. I have never spoken out against hunting on an institutional level because it is not within my competence and on a personal level because I am the grandson of a hunter.
This attitude of Berlato is very unfortunate and once again demonstrates his ignorance: he ignores my duties at the Ministry of Health which for animals concern veterinary medicine, animal welfare and food safety and not hunting.
My work is also appreciated by environmentalists and animal rights activists and perhaps for this reason Berlato attacks me: for a strange transitive conception of politics, for which he sees me as an enemy because I am appreciated by people he does not like ».
«It is evident that Berlato is only looking for visibility - continues Martini - and to obtain it he does not hesitate to offend members of the Government even from his own party such as Minister Brambilla.
It is very sad to see that an exponent of the PDL expires in this way, but that's okay for me because his behavior can only disappoint the voters of the People of Freedom and bring votes to the League. Evidently Berlato is with water in his throat in terms of consensus and he needs to make these attacks in front of the hunters who voted for him, but he had better have respect for the people.
Besides, he should know that battles are not won with friendly fire ». If Francesca Martini returns the accusations to the sender and goes on the counterattack, the minister Michela Brambilla yesterday engaged in a series of institutional appointments has instead chosen not to comment after being informed of the incident. But from sources close to her, words of fire have leaked towards the MEP Berlato who in recent months has argued with the minister on several occasions.
The game between the two began when, months ago, Michela Brambilla declared that she was in favor of the abolition of hunting by signing the manifesto “The conscience of animals” with Umberto Veronesi, Susanna Tamaro, Franco Zeffirelli, Renato Zero and others.
Berlato, who built his electoral success thanks to the votes of thousands of "doublets", has since lost no opportunity to criticize Michela Brambilla's stance, even asking Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to censor the minister's statements in a letter also signed by other MEPs Pdl.
Brambilla never replied directly to the party colleague MEP in order not to fuel the internal struggle in the PDL. But after yesterday's personal and public attack, in front of thousands of visitors, it is easy to imagine that the party will be asked for a clarification to stem an internal clash with unpredictable effects.
