Hunting: the Province of Brescia has approved the Provincial Hunting Calendar valid for the 2013-2014 hunting season for wandering in the plains, in the Alps area and for fixed stalking.
It is not long before the opening of the hunt and the Province of Brescia yesterday morning approved the new Hunting Calendar valid for the 2013-2014 hunting season in the provincial territory, distinguishing it for roaming hunting in the Alps area, in the plains and for hunting from fixed posting; the official opening is scheduled for 15 September while, subject to the favorable opinion of ISPRA, the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, the calendar includes a pre-opening day on 1 September. During the presentation of the new provincial hunting calendar, the councilor for hunting Aurelio Guarneri pointed out that the management document broadly resumes that of the previous season without presenting any particular news. As regards the pre-opening, the Province allows hunting until 12 September for the sole days of Sunday and Thursday until 13, exclusively for the single territorial area of the plain and only for the Tortora and the Gray and Black Crow. In this regard, the specified Guarneri, "Compared to last year, the taking of the blackbird will not be allowed, so as not to have to anticipate its closure in mid-December".
After providing ISPRA with exhaustive documentation about daily withdrawals of migratory fauna, the Province has authorized this type of hunting from 1 October to 30 November with only one additional day per week instead of the possible two; as far as lark hunting is concerned, it will be allowed only for three days a week. Dog training can be practiced from August 17th to September 8th for 5 days a week; in the single plain area, roaming hunting will be allowed for three days a week from 1 to 30 January only in the so-called wetlands, while in all-out territories in the same period there is also no obstacle to hunting from stalking, with the possibility of collect new species such as mallard and teal.
However, there is certainly a not encouraging news regarding the hunting licenses of the Brescia area which are gradually decreasing; in this regard, yesterday morning in the province some statistics regarding the last hunting season were pitted, confirming a downward trend, about 26 thousand hunters compared to 29 thousand in 2009. Already this year the hunting cards issued are 1100 less than those issued last year; in the same way the aspiring hunters drop from 419 candidates in 2012 to about 350 who have taken the tests for the qualification in the current year. On the other hand, the permits for fixed authorized stalking remain stable at 7 thousand.
