Hunting in derogation: Viterbo, a man was surprised by the Provincial Police while he was hunting without a regular firearm license.
The Provincial Police, on the first day of hunting notwithstanding the species Wood pigeon, Hooded Crow, Magpie and Ghiandaia in the Lazio Region, reported a man found hunting without a gun permit. The check was carried out in the territory of the Municipality of Proceno in Bolognino in a wooded area between the river Paglia and a pasture of cattle. Area where, as required by the decree of the President of the Lazio Regional Council which postponed the closure of the hunting activity to 10 February 2013, hunting is not allowed by way of derogation as it falls within 500 meters of wetlands.
The provincial police seized the weapon, ammunition and shot game. The character denounced, like many other subjects controlled by the agents in these days, was also not respecting the rules imposed by the decree. Hunting in derogation in fact it is only allowed by fixed or temporary stalking (many hunters have been caught hunting without having prepared the hut); the stalking used must be located not less than 500 meters from wetlands, frequented by water birds, and at a distance greater than 500 meters from rocky walls or partially such. Furthermore, distances of 150 meters from protected areas, buildings and roads, and 100 meters between one shed and another must be respected.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Provincial Police Salvatore Serra complimented the agents: "Precisely in anticipation of the postponement of the closure of the hunting activity - explained Serra - the Province has stepped up controls on the territory to ensure absolute compliance with the requirements established by the regional decree for the protection of the environment and wildlife heritage. Checks that will continue with the utmost scrupulousness, by the Provincial Police Corps, also in the coming days ".
