Compatible with i Android and iOS systems, the app then performs the function of register of withdrawals, annotation of the day and of the form of hunting, but, compared to the paper version, the digital one is able to improve the hunting experience through a series of auxiliary functions, such as the hunting calendar which, day by day, alerts the user of huntable species, or the counters on the carnet, set for each species on an annual basis and daily. Thanks also to a series of warnings on the interface, the app is therefore able not only to facilitate the annotation operations of the garments, both those in withdrawal and those deposited, but it becomes a sort of tutor who guides the hunter and drastically reduces errors.
The design phase took more than a year, then field experimentation followed, which was joined by a thousand hunters. Hunters using the app are required to register. The procedure is simplified by the presence of a QR code on the first page of the paper hunting book, which the hunter is currently required to collect: just open the app, frame the QR code following the instructions on the display, and the app will be able to recognize the hunter thanks to the correspondence in the database between the hunter code printed on the booklet and the corresponding QR code. For all hunters who will receive their card already filled in, registration is a matter of a few seconds, but even those who receive the blank card can use the app. In their case, the system will not be able to automatically retrieve the hunter's data, but it will guide you through a manual recording, which will require the intervention of an operator.
In any case, once registered, the app can be closed and reopened, without having to re-enter the data or any type of password. The only exception is if you log out of the profile page, an operation to be carried out only if you lend your device to third parties, so that they cannot mistakenly alter the contents of the withdrawal register. The possibility of real-time geolocation of the hunter by the control bodies via the app is also excluded. The creation of a reliable, verifiable and timely database it is the first step for a correct comparison between the hunting world and the other subjects that deal with hunting management (ISPRA, Ministries, agricultural and environmental associations). Only with easily verifiable data and numbers, such as those provided in real time by the app, it is possible to demonstrate the true impact of hunting sampling on the animal populations hunted and the timing with which it occurs.
