Sunday 25 August, a Crespina (Pisa), the town famous for the ancient fair of owls, which will also be held this year on September 29th, was held on ITALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP OF SONG BIRDS. Several regional realities presented themselves to the appointment; Lombardy, Veneto, Trentino AA, Friuli VG and Tuscany. Numerous singing species that the various competitors have entered the competition, reaching a number of almost 500 specimens. The race started at break of dawn, under a clear sky and given the period, even with a good temperature. The birds in cages immediately began to warble their majestic song and the best specimens of each species immediately proved their superiority in order to ensure the first places on the podium.
The professionalism of the various trainers and breeders is high, who have brought subjects of high value and well cared for. An expert and authoritative jury, composed of judges belonging to the different regions and well distributed in the different sectors, has issued its unquestionable judgments for the determination of the various rankings and Italian champions. We had the opportunity to appreciate, in Tuscany, the quail race, unusual for our areas; an incredible concert given their power of voice, almost overhanging the singing of the other birds. At the end of the race, under the careful direction of regional secretary FATFO Antonio Menga, who played a decisive role and commendable work for the conduct of the event, assisted by Pietro Pardossi, the rankings were drawn up and the awards were held.
On the stage of honor the FATFO Regional President Valerio Ciampi, who summed up the course of the morning thanking the authorities present. The councilor for hunting Lisa Balluchi brought greetings from the mayor and thanked the organizers for holding the event and for the image it gave to the town. In his speech, the National Pres. Of CONFU Piero Zava, expressed all his satisfaction for the excellent success of an event prestigious and rich in tradition. Even the Honorary Pres. Of the fair Loriano Nannelli, a very authoritative veteran of these events, did not fail to underline the great and positive work done by everyone for the success of this edition of the Championship. In conclusion, the Secretary of the Confederation of Tuscan hunters (CCT), Marco Romagnoli, who, citing the associations that adhere, highlighted the enormous importance of the unity of the hunting world and the strength that follows, in order to keep our culture and these prestigious traditions alive.
The organizers also intended to highlight the importance of the collaboration between the FAFTO and the CCT . FAFTO's choice to join the Confederation has already demonstrated the added value that a large unitary subject can also bring to the fairs and ornithological initiatives that take place in our region. A great recognition and a warm thanks goes to the Proloco and its President Federico Copiti, who recently took over from Luca Vannini, who passed away prematurely during his efforts for the fair.
