The traditional Mallone Festival will take place in Bracigliano, in the province of Salerno, from 17 to 21 July 2014.
The Mallone Festival is an appointment with flavor and ancient traditions. Mallone is a mixture of mountain herbs and turnip greens, mixed with lumpy potatoes, chilli and lots of oil. It is a typical recipe of the Campania hinterland, a poor dish of peasant tradition, where the "scraps" become a delicacy.
The evenings, enlivened by lots of good music and the "Pesa & Vinci" competition, will be colored with the folklore colors of the parties of the past. Our festival was born from years of specialties and typical braciglianesi dishes, among which the Mallone triumphs. The San Giovanni Bosco Oratory, which hosts the event, is the spiritual and propulsive center of the parish, a place where the vision of "high things" is combined with fervent activism.
Mallone, a poor dish with a heavenly flavor, is the emblem of our spirit: simple people at the service of great works. Sagra del Mallone… Quality, Tradition, Passion!
PS: The event takes place outdoors in Via San Giovanni Battista.
In addition to the Mallone you can also taste:
Pennette with pork "tracchiulelle" sauce;
Pasta and beans;
Farmer's Plate (the best of ancient local flavors);
Sandwich with porchetta and mallone;
Sandwich with “country” sausage and mallone;
Lemon ice-cream;
Golden Zeppole;
Solopaca wine.
