Il Ministry of the Environment he answered a question from the deputy of the 5 Star Movement Clare Gagnarli on urgent initiatives in the field of hunting notwithstanding and contrast of poaching. The clarification took place in VIII Commission and the dicastery explained the point of view ofISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research). The fact that starlings, finches and brambles they could be hunted in different ways, places and times than the other passerines that can be hunted does not represent a sufficient reason to justify the derogation.
For ISPRA, the regime would have the consequence an increase in huntable species in Italy, adding two that cannot be taken in Europe, namely the finch and brambling. For the cancellation, the situation is different, given that the Institute has accepted the derogation in the past. Another important clarification concerned the definition of the term "small quantities".
The Ministry recalled that ISPRA does not consider this definition applicable to most passerines, in particular to migratory species. Finally, the national action plan to combat offenses against wild birds is being examined by the State-Regions Conference to ensure fight against poaching.
Well in the other 10 EU countries where the starling can be hunted, what will they think of Italy ?????
