La Objective Law recently approved by the Regional Council of Toscana on containment of ungulates it is a novelty still to be known and deepened. It is for this reason that the Pisa section of the Italian Farmers Confederation (CIA) promoted a meeting to discuss the topic, the right opportunity to get more details and understand what will happen in the Tuscan territory. The debate will take place Tuesday 23 February 2016 a Montecatini Val di Cecina, to be precise in La Miniera at the Calderai room: the appointment has been set for 10 in the morning. In practice, this is one of the meetings that are part of the “Let's talk about it to the CIA” initiative.
The regulatory text authorizes the extraordinary killing of ungulates, therefore wild boar, fallow deer and roe deer, which have reached over 200 thousand specimens in the Tuscan woods: the law was inevitably challenged by environmental associations, but the goal of significantly reducing the number of wild animals could no longer be postponed, as their load became unsustainable for the damage caused to agricultural crops and the environmental balance. The number one of CIA Toscana, Luke Brunelli, he wanted to remember how the governor Rossi and the Regional Council are committed and shown determined in bringing the law to approval.
According to Brunelli, the region now has an important means of coping with the chronic ungulate emergence with brand new tools. Furthermore, the satisfaction of the regional section of the association is ideally accompanied by the awareness that the norm, defined as "very positive", is only the beginning of the path that must be taken to rebalance the territory. Brunelli is convinced that an enormous effort will be required for correct, profitable and coherent implementation, especially from the point of view of planning, organization, resources and structures.
Stefano Berti, director of the CIA of Pisa, is convinced of the fact that the contents of the law should be illustrated on the territories. This means that entities, farmers, hunters, environmental associations and citizens will need to know the text better and the elements that led to its birth, otherwise you risk only misinformation and exploitation that are useless.
Among the speakers of the meeting figure Marco Failoni, Head of Development and Territory on behalf of Cia Toscana, one of the people who followed the birth of the Objective Law step by step. They will not miss either Vito Mazzarone, official of the Tuscany Region that deals with hunting and wildlife, the mayor of Montecatini Val di Cecina, Sandro Cerri, and John Vezzosi, member of the Pisan Hunting Territorial Area.
