Epidemic front
The information provided by the Councilor for Hunting, Alessio Mammi, on the new regulation for management of ungulates. A regulation that is certainly long awaited also in light of the news released by the Ministry of Health a few days ago regarding the progress of the African Swine Fever epidemic front in Italy. In fact, EU Implementing Regulation 2024/760 of 23 February 2024 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union, which included new municipalities in the provinces of Lodi, Pavia, Milan, Piacenza, Parma, La Spezia and Asti. Furthermore, as a manifestation of the increasingly real and tangible emergency linked to wild boars, the Ministry certifies the entry into the restricted zone 2 of the first two Municipalities of the Tuscany Region, in the province of Massa-Carrara.
A changed context
“A virus that knows no borders and on which we must intervene with incisive actions, each with their own skills and with the availability of everyone, public institutions, associations and hunters”. The appeal of the League Councilor, Massimiliano Pompignoli, is not long in coming in the face of the words of the regional councilor, who underlines how this new regulation wants and must adapt to a profoundly changed environmental and social context. Compared to the previous one, which dates back to 2008, it aims to make hunting activity more efficient and effective, also and above all with regards to the PSA.
The need for more courage
“A regulation that has listened, at least in part, to the requests of the association, hunting and agricultural world” – continues the Northern League Councilor. Who recognizes more courage in Councilor Mammi and the Council. “It is only unfortunate that it is an armored regulation which, precisely because of the very type of administrative act, precludes amendments by the councillors, who are still deprived of any powers of modification or intervention in the hunting sector. As always, we see the draft the same morning and this makes it impossible for us to go into detail. I hope that, although we cannot present amendments, our proposals will still be listened to" - concludes Councilor Pompignoli, who nevertheless says he is satisfied, for the moment, with some of the changes illustrated by the offices.
