The lawmakers of the US state of the Utah have approved a legislative text that will allow the children of 12 years to get special hunting permits. These are two types of permits to be precise, one for limited access to reserves and areas in which to practice hunting and another valid once in a lifetime. So far, 12-year-olds from this part of the United States have had the opportunity to participate in big game hunting, now some news have been introduced regarding their withdrawal. First of all, the law will allow them to accumulate points every time the permission is granted through a lottery but they will not be chosen.
These points will be useful in relation to the permits of the following months, but they cannot be sold or transferred. The bill came about after theHouse Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment Committee noted that in neighboring states hunting permits were also issued to children under the age of ten (with a system of points similar to the one just explained).
Utah special permits have been granted to date respecting the limit of 14 years: the law we are talking about, however, includes other news on the subject of hunting, such as the free access of disabled veterans in state parks. As is the case in other stars and stripes federated states, too in Utah, hunters must have special cards for hunting, as provided by the Division of Wildlife Resources. This is not the only permit devised by the local government, as there is one that sets a 640 acri the maximum size limit that the landowner cannot exceed if he wants to practice hunting, while at least 100 acres must be for agricultural land.
Then there is the Trial Hunting Program: in practice, the program is open to both residents and those who are not and allows those over 12 to try hunting in Utah for a few years, as long as they are accompanied by those over 21 years old before following a hunting education course. To access this possibility it is necessary to prove that you are at least 12 years old when you go hunting (the application can also start from 11), a step that is followed by an orientation course and then by an exam, which will automatically assign an authorization number.
