THEANUUMigrators has made known the story of a shed and associate residing in Faggeto Lario, in the province of Como. The story took place last October 28: the hunter collected under his own plants fixed posting a specimen of redwing and he immediately noticed the metal ring that had been applied to the tarsus of the bird.
The recapture was then communicated to Walter Sassi, collaborator of theFEIN Ornithological Observatory of Arosio (European Foundation Il Nibbio), a structure that every week provides very important information on the migratory step. In this way it turned out that the thrush had been ringed in Arosio on 3 December 2015, therefore almost two years ago. The shed operator himself had managed to recapture a song thrush on 10 October, two recaptures in just over three weeks.
In that case it had been ascertained how the turdid had made a reverse migration, returning to the northernmost location. These examples certify that hunters are fundamental to ornithological science: the ANUU pointed out attention and collaboration of the associate, characteristics that also concern many other hunters throughout Italy.
