On the occasion of a wild boar hunt from stalking, unfortunately unsuccessful due to the lack of availability of the wild to reveal themselves, we had the opportunity to experiment with two recent Delta optics, specifically the new Titanium HD models where the acronym implies the use of high definition lenses. , an almost indispensable point if you want to show up on the field with the right equipment. Two rifles proposed by Sabatti, both of the Mod. Saphire with small but significant set-up variations for a decidedly hunting address alongside another more specific for shooting in the range.
These differences have already been highlighted in a special passage: now we dedicate ourselves to a roundup of the two telescopes that have common bases such as the 30 mm tube, the reticles that are always very fine and placed on the second focal plane, the shots of the adjustments ( 50 in the first and 100 in the second applicable in both directions) which subtends ¼ of MOA, therefore about 7 mm at 100 meters, the third turret on the left with coaxial adjustment of the brightness of the central point and of the parallax.
The magnification range allows you to immediately evaluate the intended use: with a minimum value of 2,5x you are able to tackle almost all the so-called movement hunts, movement intended both of the hunter in search, both of the wild that transits within range of the post. Today for this main and specific field there are the values of 1-1,1x which are certainly optimal, but on the other hand they are definitely limiting due to the consequential maximum value usually limited to 8x, while in our Delta it reaches 15x, a number of enlargements with which satisfies every need for shooting on suspicious game and placed at the maximum distances generally beaten by those who do not intend hunting a game as a form of sniping. However, it can happen with sheep or goats (wild of course ...) of extreme suspicion, usual inhabitants of remote corners of the mountains of the Eurasian continent as well as the North American one, having to shoot at distances of many hundreds of meters and here, also considering the area of the target not exactly small, the 15x optics is proposed in all its validity. A 98mm eye relief combined with an 11,6 - 5,6mm egress pupil helps in the accommodation of the eye. Alongside the magnifications, another value proves to be of great help, often fatal for the success of the enterprise: the 56 mm objective lens is the maximum to allow the human eye (at a still young age) to capture all the light available in those ephemeris minutes when a minimum uncertainty in perceiving the target and placing the cross of the reticle on it can mean the return to the field unmade in body and spirit, scorned and with the soul in turmoil, or an exciting, glorious arrival with the soul that exults with happiness. Lastly, two values with a length of 365 mm and a weight of 700 g denote the favorable compactness of the instrument. The price in the armory is just under € 799,00: compact too.
Delta HD Titanium 4-24 × 50 ret 4AS ballistic
The second model of optics that we were able to try already recalls in the values the propensity for shooting from the range or, in any case, for long-distance shooting. The 6x factor extends the range from 4 magnifications, already in themselves amply sufficient to remedy various hunting situations in which it can be found by chance, even to 24x with which to dominate the scene with targets placed at 5 - 6 - 700 meters, perhaps even further, be sure to place the 4AS ballistic reticle in the right place to ensure optimal aiming. The 50 mm lens is a classic for these uses and provides adequate brightness without further burdening the weight of the instrument: it is usually considered that extreme shots not on paper targets, but on wild ones must take place in good light conditions and not at the very first or in the last minutes of the day. The HD lenses also contribute here to optimize the values involved with definition, brightness and absence of aberrations. We also find very practical the large exit pupil of 7,6 - 2,1 mm and the eye relief equal to 90 - 98 mm which does not force us to calculate the position of the eye in relation to the lens millimetrically: the posture can therefore enjoy of a certain game without creating that annoying perferic halo as it happens in other spotting scopes. Lastly, the use of titanium parts, hence the specification of the series to which these two models belong, brings a considerable reduction in the total mass equal to 678 g with a very high strength; the length is 360 mm. The informative price is € 949,00.
In a subsequent moment we will thoroughly test the repetitiveness of the shots on the turrets of these two models: although observed in the centering in the polygon, they seem to behave well. The quotations made by the Italian distributor from which the instruments came, RA Sport of the Redolfi brothers in Manerbio (BS), certainly encourage you to personally experience the validity of these Polish optics, now on international markets for some years now.
