Hunters and Hunters: the Province of Perugia has decided to give value to women hunters, with the delivery of "certificates of esteem" to Diana's emules.
Ceremony with the delivery of "certificates of esteem" in the Province, on the morning of last October 28 in the Falcone and Borsellino room, to about thirty modern emules of Diana, goddess of hunting, lady of the woods, protector of wild animals, guardian of sources and of streams. The president of the Province, Marco Vinicio Guasticchi flanked by the representatives of the provincial Atc, including Luciano Calabresi (new president of Area 2 Perugia) and the manager Roberta Burzigotti, thus wanted to enhance women who are dedicated to hunting, activities not more prerogative only of men. “The Province - underlined Guasticchi - is convinced that hunting is a resource, both as a testimony of an ancestral tradition and for the economy. Hunters are sentinels of the environment, saving the community huge resources if we had to hire someone to supervise and control. The growing female component among hunters is certainly an enrichment for the whole hunting activity. Among the initiatives that the Province is carrying out, the Provincial Wildlife Plan will be launched by November, while the pest containment project developed in collaboration with all those involved in the problem is nearing completion ".
In declaring himself a "sui generis hunter" as he is unwilling to use large caliber weapons and in any case in favor of courses on ballistics that guarantee serious preparation, Guasticchi explained how compared to 30 years ago a lot has also changed in terms of the population of wildlife that has gradually seen the return of species absent for a long time in Umbria, such as ungulates or wolves.
"Their presence requires those who practice hunting activities to have a great sense of responsibility and knowledge of the laws on the subject - he added - also debunking clichés according to which, for example, the wolf is a problem". Thanks came from the Atc representatives who said they were "satisfied with the initiative".
Dr. Burzigotti then illustrated how the Province is committed to ensuring that there is more and more preparation and sensitivity around hunting. After all, hunting is a passion and for this reason it creates debate. Women can help the Province to listen to everyone's requests ”. The meeting ended with the delivery of certificates and a group photo.
