Also this year, for the second consecutive year, the FIdC Veneto, with the technical support of Club del Beccaccino and of the Faunistic and Agro-Environmental Studies and Research Office of Federcaccia, organized a theoretical-practical course for snipe and whisk monitors with pointing dogs to check the presence of the two piarists during the wintering and pre-nuptial migration.
The course, which saw the numerous participation of many fans of these two species, took place on Tuesday 12 November in Porto Tolle. Despite the adverse weather conditions, the field activities took place regularly in the ZRCs kindly made available by theATC Rovigo 3.
The initiative, financed by the Veneto Region, is aimed at collecting data through abundance indices on the consistency / presence of the two wild animals and at the correct use of the pointing dog as the only instrument to collect such information on cryptic species such as snipe and whisk.
