The ordinance signed yesterday by the President of the Regional Council Toscana Eugenio Giani on the territory ofATCMS13, comes in the aftermath of a long series of meetings and insights on preventive initiatives that will be introduced in relation to the evolution of the problem concerning the ASF (African swine fever). For us hunters, as demonstrated by the facts, the commitment remains firm in ensuring the maximum organizational effort in agreement with the Tuscan ATCs and the bodies in charge, to monitor the territory and report any findings or sightings of suspicious cases. Only on Sunday 16st January, in the ATC 13 area of Massa Carrara, hundreds of hunters, belonging to the teams operating in the various districts, participated in the monitoring operations carried out under the coordination of the competent ATC and the technical staff in charge.
One of the many initiatives that confirm how the teams for the wild boar hunting active in Tuscany, in this final part of the hunting season, in addition to practitioners of other forms of hunting, ensure a decisive role for the control and the desirable contingency of any critical issues which could occur in the next few weeks. Hunters and the hunting world as a whole therefore intend to be an active and qualified part, today and in the future, for the civic values they represent and for the deep attachment to the environment and the territory.
With the same sense of responsibility we must also remember that hunting, the economic induced that it develops, the management activities that hunters carry out for free for the management of a public resource such as wildlife, activities related to wildlife control and the prevention of damage to the agricultural sector, the function and operation of ATCs, are non-secondary aspects that they need to certainties and rules strictly connected to real needs. It would not be acceptable to witness the prevalence of emotional logics, let alone punitive by the institutions towards hunting, perhaps with the succession of future ordinances and unjustified measures, compared to what is already foreseen today by the National Prevention Plan, by the Guidelines indicated by the the same Ministry of Health and the recent joint ordinances of the competent Ministries in compliance with the EU / 2020 Community regulation.
If hunting and hunters are considered a resource for the community, at the same time it is necessary to ensure that politics and institutions guarantee a collaborative spirit, focused on transparency, maximum involvement and equal dignity with respect to all other activities that take place outdoors. We are deeply convinced of this, in the certainty that even on this occasion, lin Tuscany he will always be able to demonstrate the best of a culture which has its roots in participation and in the added value that the world of associations brings as a dowry at the service of institutions and for the general interest (Source: CCT).
