The pre-opening of the hunting season in Puglia is at risk, the WWF announces an appeal to the TAR like those presented in Lazio and Campania.
The Puglia Region has confirmed the pre-opening days of the Hunting Season despite the formal warnings presented by the President of WWF Italy, Stefano Leoni, and by the President of WWF Puglia, Leonardo Lorusso who now announce an appeal similar to those presented in Lazio and Campania.
In fact, in recent days the environmentalist initials had sent to the President of the Puglia Region, Hon. Nichi Vendola, and to the Hunting and Fishing Service of the Regional Councilorship for Agri-food Resources, two letters with which it formally asked the Puglia Region to revoke the pre-opening of hunting on the regional territory, but the agreement with the regional administration has never been reached.
The Scientific Director of the Cesine WWF Oasis, Cristiano Liuzzi, explained that "In recent months the wildlife of the Puglia Region has suffered and continues to suffer in an extraordinary and remarkable way, due to the climatic / meteorological situation of almost complete drought in Particularly the few watercourses, the very rare lakes (whose level has reached historic lows) and various water basins in the Region are almost completely dry or in complete suffering ”.
Similarly, the President of WWF Puglia, Leonardo Lorusso, stated that "the spread of fires, which affected the entire regional territory, caused a critical situation for the survival of mammals and birds, with particular reference to the Alta Murgia , the Gargano and the Salento peninsula ".
According to environmentalists, therefore, anticipating the start of the Hunting Season with pre-opening would cause an additional stress factor for wildlife; the same idea would seem to ISPRA, the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, according to which it would be desirable to postpone the opening of hunting for aquatic animals, prohibit hunting from stalking, suspend dog training and finally postpone hunting for fauna sedentary.
The national councilor of WWF Italy then announced, “On the basis of what has already happened in other Italian regions, today we will file the appeal with the TAR, edited by the lawyer. Carlo Tangari di Bari, for the cancellation of the DGR Puglia n.1225 of 12.06.2012 (Hunting Calendar 2012-2013) to avoid also the pre-openings of 9 and 12 September. We are confident and we await the Judge's pronouncement with serenity ".
The expectations of the WWF are obviously those of earning the same victories on the hunting world of Lazio and Campania where the TAR has decided with its own decrees to block the pre-opening days until the appeal is evaluated in the Council Chamber.
