The seventh edition of “Spino Fiorito - The Small Great Italies of the glass” will take place at the Malaspina Castle in Massa (MS), from 28 April to 1 May 2012.
"Come BIO commands": is the dominant theme of the seventh edition of Spino Fiorito - "The Small Great Italies of the glass", a biennial exhibition-market, to be held at the Malaspina Castle in Massa, from Saturday 28 April to Tuesday 1 May 2012, with the exhibition of food and wine products of over 100 companies. In the evocative historical location, agriculture "without chemicals", and not only, will be the highlight of the event that this year revolves around the world of nature.
“We did it, it is appropriate to say it - comments Domenico Ceccotti, councilor for rural development of the Province of Massa-Carrara, the body that invented, wanted this event and has believed in it since the first edition. Despite the tight budget, the convulsive cuts that should not touch occasions like these, we have managed to set up what has become the highlight of our territory, capable of attracting thousands of visitors, I would almost say. a business card that exploits in a marketing key those that are the food and wine peculiarities of the entire province, those that are and can increasingly become determining factors for development.
During the four days of Spino Fiorito, conferences and workshops will take place under the banner of organic farming, including the one under the aegis of the cross-border project “Marte più, which includes the Tuscan provinces and Corsica.
In the exhibition you will find something new: the "Corner of Organic Wines of Massa-Carrara", which will allow you to get to know, under the guidance of wine experts, the new and emerging "nectars of Bacchus" of organic processing.
At the Castle, in addition to the usual gastronomic tastings, on a particular dedicated day, there will also be tastings based on fish, coming from local fish farming. Instead Monday 30 April will be reserved for hunting, tailored to the ecosystem and from the faunal point of view, and to the new hunting plan, on which experts in the sector will express themselves.
Also this year the exhibition will host noble wines, such as the local Doc di Candia and Colli di Luni wines, the Igp Val di Magra and the analogues of micro-areas of many regions., such as Sicily, Puglia and Liguria, accompanied by rare delicacies, such as, for example, the IGP raw ham from Norcia, the juniper smoked ricotta from the Abruzzo mountains and the Sicilian extra virgin olive oil.
As always, during the event, the Spino Fiorito d'oro will be awarded to a producer, an oenologist and a journalist who have distinguished themselves for having supported the culture of the territory at national and local level. In Spino Fiorito there will be moments of entertainment, from the performances of the flag-wavers to the processions in historical costume, and the artistic exhibitions.
Entrance ticket to the castle 1 euro: the proceeds will go entirely to the Institute for the enhancement of the castles of the Province of Massa-Carrara to contribute to the financing of the management and opening costs of the castles in the area.
