The MEP Marco Dreosto again questions the EU Commission on the ban on lead for ammunition for hunting and sport shooting. Together with other Italian and French deputies, close to the hunting world, the Hon. Dreosto has decided to clarify the matter of competences, given the proposed modification by the European Commission to the Regulations REACH, in which he asks to evaluate the restriction of the use of lead in wetlands and land areas with regard to hunting and target shooting ammunition, as well as in fishing gear.
"Whereas the indication of the use and of the means of hunting falls within the competence of the State regulations - explains Dreosto - I asked the Commission how it can claim this competence, as well as whether it is appropriate to further assess compliance with the principles of proportionality and subsidiarity, referred to inart. 5 of the Treaty on European Union and of the relative application protocol, in the light of which the Commission may eventually withdraw from its will to modify the aforementioned Regulation REACH.
