From the ringing station of thePonza Island interesting updates continue to arrive regarding the especially in transit along the Lazio coast. The activities have recently started, but it is already possible to understand what is happening. In particular, the last few days have been characterized by a climate change of no small importance.
Here is what the organizers and volunteers wrote about it: “After two days of bad weather with strong gusts of wind up to 32 knots, the sun is back. With it, however, the birds did not return to our nets. In the last two days (we refer to last weekend) there have been few i total number of catches. Mainly we found black redstart, robins, swallows, luis, hoopoes, house martins, blackcaps, weeds, and sometimes some octopus and serin, ready for nesting on the island.
Our volunteers are busy all day with nets and learning the craft of ringing. Nevertheless, thanks also to rhythms not too pressing, given the scarce catches, they are also getting to know the island and its resources better. There is therefore no shortage of gastronomic experiences or naturalistic excursions to the spectacular ones sea sites close to the station ".
