A Siena the conference promoted byGame Producers Authority on the new wildlife hunting plan of Tuscany. As underlined by the CCT, the issue is fundamental and several problems have emerged as regards the current management. For the confederation, the solution lies with one good territorial planning, establishing criteria and guidelines. Dr. Galdino Cartoni deepened the expectations of the wildlife farms and hunting farms, while Professor Marco Apollonio has developed the themes of the management of ungulates and the relationships with human activities.
The voice of the Territorial Areas of Hunting she spoke with the regional coordinator Roberto Vivarelli, according to whom we need to rethink the governance of the management committees. The point of view of the hunters was represented by Mark Romagnoli, regional secretary of the CCT, an association that includes 60% of regional hunters. Some urgent themes have been taken up, specifically:
- Facing, rethinking and innovating the institutional governance on hunting;
- Rethink the role and functions of ATC by developing the tools for comparison also at the local level to ensure that the new Plan represents the result of the comparison and involvement of the territory and various requests and proposals expressed.
- Univocal criteria on the new planning and firm opposition to “excerpt” procedures since the territory is to be considered a “unicum” on which to harmonize the single actions. Actions that will have to involve the various managing bodies (Region, ATC, Parks, AFV and AAVV)
- Public resources and investments for wildlife management
- A different approach to the theme of ungulates, the experience of the Objective Law n.10 / 2016
- Addressing the crisis of small sedentary game with new tools (Districts for sedentary, environmental improvements, qualitative relaunch of wildlife institutes.
- Migration: data and science in defense of hunting calendars
- A new management of the damage caused by wildlife to agricultural production
Finally, the secretary Romagnoli also wanted to draw attention to the relationship with ISPRA and the need for the Region to reactivate and enhance other scientific references such as CIRSEMAF and universities to strengthen the decision-making and legislative autonomy of the region by countering the centralist impulses of the Ministry of the Environment regarding hunting.
