Sport fishing: the world championship in Tuscany
Tuscany will be one of the 5 regions (together with Lazio, Emilia Romagna, Umbria and Liguria) that will host the third edition of the Sport Fishing World Championships next summer. This is the second time after the edition which took place in 2000. The event will be held from 28 August to 4 September and the opening ceremony will be held in Florence at the Cascine park. The Tuscan provinces concerned, in addition to Florence, will be Arezzo, Pisa, Livorno, Lucca, Massa and Carrara and Grosseto. In total 13 tests will take place in Tuscany.
The councilor for agriculture, hunting and fishing of the Tuscany Region, Gianni Salvadori, on the occasion of the press conference of the event that was held today in Rome, sent a letter to the president of the Italian Fishing Federation. "The choice - writes the regional councilor among other things - testifies to the quality of the environment and of the waters present in Italy and Tuscany which, with its more than 2000 watercourses equal to a development of over 14000 km, represents one of the regions with the greatest development of inland waters.
Waters that have their "sentinels" in fishermen and it is no coincidence that the relationship between fishermen's associations and local authorities is close and rich in activities that see aquatic ecosystems as a starting point, to continue in the care of the river environment, with the aim of conservation, the increase and rebalancing of fish populations. To this must be added an intense project activity that brings the values of fishing to the world of schools, young people and the world of disability. It is therefore with great pleasure - concludes Salvadori - that Tuscany will host part of the third edition of the Sport Fishing World ChampionShips.
In addition to a real "fishing Olympics", it will be a party that, thanks to the commitment of FIPSAS, will see athletes, nations and people from all over the world united in the name of fishing and that sporting spirit. that generates healthy competition. "
