New emergency after the truce
A new case of swine fever. Unfortunately, the emergency relating to the infection affecting pigs and, in particular, wild boars does not stop, as is well evidenced by what happened in Liguria. The region was already under the alert for the previous cases and the discovery of the virus in the carcass of a wild game has brought the topic back to the top. After several days of respite, therefore, it is necessary to deal with a fact, the interventions to counteract the PSA were not effective. Where was the discovery made?
The place of the discovery
The infected boar was killed in the locality Busalla, a small town of 5 thousand inhabitants in the province of Genoa. Wanting to be even more precise, this is the seventh case of this type to be found in the area since the emergency officially began. The numbers leave no room for doubt and should suggest new policies and ways to sleep more peacefully.
The figures of the infection
The starting point is that of the last one 27th December, when it was understood how African swine fever was also present in our country. For nine months now, the positives found in the Ligurian territory have been 64 (at a rate of over 7 cases each month to be exact). If you then add that there are other detections in Piemonte, as many as 119, almost 200 episodes of ascertained infections.
