La City of Science of Naples hosted the exhibition shortly before Easter "The flight of birds of prey", an event organized by two groups, namely “The wings in the wind” and “I falconieri dell'Irno”. The goal was to demonstrate what these animals are capable of, so the contents were highly educational, but animal rights activists heavily criticized the demonstration. In particular, emphasis was placed on alleged "commodification" of birds and the criticisms did not spare the recreational intentions.
According l 'Arch Hunting National, these statements border on complete ignorance of the subject and the ideological fury typical of extremists. The protests came from Ardea, LIPU, WWF Italy, Legambiente, ENPA and SOS Natura. According to them, the protection of birds of prey should concern every body or institution, also because the species in question are classified as "particularly protected".
Falconry has been accused of conveying wrong messages of environmental education: for animal rights associations, moreover, it is wrong that "it is precisely those who own a hooded hawk tied on his arm to communicate notions on respect for animals to future generations". The juxtaposition between environmental education and falconryfinally, it was bluntly branded as "absurd".
